Did You Know – requiring waiver of unemployment benefits as part of severance could carry criminal sanctions?
Did You Know:
Tex. Labor Code Ann. §207.074 (West 2015) makes it a criminal offense for an employer, or officer or agent of an employer, to require or accept a waiver of a right to unemployment benefits, including doing so as part of a severance package.  Punishment is a fine between $100 and $1000 and imprisonment for not more than six months.
